2019 Cadillac XT5 vs. 2019 Audi Q5

2019 CADILLAC XT5 VS. 2019 AUDI Q5
The Cadillac XT5 and Audi Q5 are both luxury crossover SUVs with a fancy exterior and modern creature comforts, but which of the two offers better value for your money? To find out, we’ve listed the main points of comparison between these two crossovers, so you can make the best choice for your needs.

If how an SUV drives is important to you, the Cadillac XT5 will satisfy with its standard 3.6-liter V-6 engine, sporting 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. By contrast, Q5 drivers get a base model with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that offers 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. While the torque values are similar, test driving the two models will show how the extra 39 horsepower on the Cadillac improves the driving style. Another important difference to keep in mind is that Audi’s Q5 engine is turbocharged, which can cause some lag in responsiveness from the gas pedal. Cadillac’s engine is also designed for regular gasoline, while the Q5 is designed for more expensive premium gasoline. Finally, despite having a larger engine, the XT5 also has a lower curb weight of 3,985 lbs. versus 4,045 lbs., leading to better agility and acceleration.

Luxury & Convenience

Brands like Cadillac know how to spoil drivers with a fancy interior, and the XT5 stands out considerably over the Q5. The XT5 also features a chrome-styled gear shift, compared to plain metal in the Q5. If you like having internet access on the go, baseline XT5 models offer a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot for up to seven devices — a feature that isn’t available on the Q5’s starting trim level.

Safety & Security

Both of these models were rated five stars in crash test safety by the NHTSA. However, one of the main differences in safety involves adaptive cruise control, a feature that automatically maintains a set distance behind the car in front so the driver can relax. Adaptive cruise control is an available upgrade on the base 2019 XT5, so drivers can choose it if they wish. The Q5, on the other hand, does not offer adaptive cruise control on the base trim level.

Considering the advantages that Cadillac’s SUV has over the Q5 thus far, it seems sensible for the vehicle to have a somewhat higher MSRP. Despite that, the 2019 Audi Q5’s base model starts at an MSRP of $42,950, which is actually higher than the 2019 Cadillac XT5’s starting price of $41,695.

The XT5 has greater exterior measurements than the Q5 in every way, from height and length to width and wheelbase, usually by 1 inch or more. On the inside, you’ll appreciate the greater legroom that brands like Cadillac are known for. The interior cargo volume is greater in the XT5 as well, with 30 cubic feet versus 26.8 cubic feet.

When it comes to performance, safety, interior comfort, features, and roominess, cars like the 2019 Cadillac XT5 are hard to beat, and the Audi Q5 can’t keep up.
