2019 Cadillac XT4 vs. 2019 Audi Q3

2019 CADILLAC XT4 VS. 2019 AUDI Q3
If you are looking for a compact, luxurious, and fun SUV, your options just increased. The 2019 Audi 3 is a wholly-redesigned version of its predecessor, offering crisp, taut lines and rockstar performance. The 2019 Cadillac XT4 is a brand-new offering from the legendary automaker, disrupting the compact luxury crossover SUV segment with its own angled lines and cool power.

All three trims of the XT4 (Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport) are outfitted with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that reaches 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The front-wheel-drive XT4s benefit from a nine-speed automatic transmission for a smooth drive.
Until the Audi Q3 arrives stateside following its European debut later in 2018, we won’t know specifics of the trims on offer, but we do know that two variations of a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four will be offered. Base models will see 184 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, while the higher-output version produces 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. All Q3’s will sit atop an eight-speed transmission.

Fuel Economy

Cars like these sporty, compact crossovers are easy on the wallet in more ways than one. With lower price tags than their larger cousins, they are also penny-pinchers at the gas pump. The combined fuel economy of the Cadillac is an impressive 27 miles per gallon, putting it at the top of the small crossover segment, and even ahead of some smaller economy cars. The Audi falls a bit behind on fuel economy, getting only 23 mpg combined.

These pint-sized cars may look small, but they accommodate an impressive amount of people and cargo for their size and price. The Cadillac has a larger exterior, measuring in at 181.1 inches long and 74 inches wide. The Audi is just behind at 172.8 inches long and 72.1 inches wide. The Cadillac’s larger dimensions result in a surprisingly generous legroom for front and rear passengers. The Cadillac also offers a larger cargo capacity with 22.5 cubic feet against nearly 19 cubic feet in the Audi.

Luxury and Convenience

Both brands like the Cadillac and the Audi boast upscale features that you have always hoped for, alongside amenities that you may not have even known existed.

The star of the newly-redesigned Q3 is its 8.8-inch infotainment screen display, available at 10.1 inches in the top-of-the-line model. The infotainment system accesses a variety of technological amenities such as Wi-Fi connectivity and Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto support.
The 8-inch infotainment display on the Cadillac is easily controlled by a rotary knob on the front of the armrest that removes the need to hunt for on-screen controls. Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto support, as well as Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity, are included.

In a time when rising gas prices, not to mention life’s day-to-day expenses creep up, it’s nice to discover a luxury car option that is economical to operate yet exceedingly comfortable to drive. The Audi Q3 and Cadillac XT4 are exciting entries into the smaller luxury crossover market. While both vehicles offer robust amenities, the Cadillac’s superior gas mileage and cargo space make the all-new XT4 the cream of the crop.
