2018 Cadillac CT6 vs. 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Car shoppers who happen to be looking for the best luxury vehicle they can get for their money have their work cut out for them. You can’t deny that luxury sedans are everywhere these days, and many of them have much to offer for potential buyers. Two of the best options now are the 2018 Cadillac CT6 and the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. If you’re having a hard time comparing features between these two vehicles, consider weighing some of the more prominent aspects of each vehicle to help you make your decision.

In many cases, when a vehicle offers lower horsepower, you’d expect the tradeoff to be better fuel efficiency, but not with the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Despite the fact that its engine is less powerful than the one found in the Cadillac CT6, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class sports only 19 mpg on city streets and 28 mpg on the highway.

When you compare this gas mileage to the 2018 Cadillac CT6 and its 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on highways, the 2018 Cadillac CT6 is the clear winner between these two cars in terms of power, performance, and efficiency.

The 2018 Cadillac CT6 comes standard with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that offers an impressive 404 horsepower. That horsepower is a lot for a car of this size, and while it’s not running on a smaller four-cylinder engine, this level of performance is still quite impressive for a V6 engine.

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class comes standard with a rather similar 3.0-liter V6 engine that also sports a twin-turbo performance upgrade, but offers only up to 362 horsepower. Higher trim levels on this particular vehicle can achieve up to 463 horsepower but require a 4.0-liter V8 engine to beat the higher performance offered by the CT6.

Both vehicles offer some of the latest features in luxury technology and include all of your staple items such as hands-free calling, streaming media playback, and a full suite of onboard apps that work in tandem with your mobile devices to provide an almost seamless online experience. The 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class relies on a full-color panoramic display that spans almost the entire dash of the vehicle and looks quite impressive. Both cars also include integrated wireless device charging, which is a hot feature now.

The Cadillac CT6 may not make use of the impressively large display of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but it includes one feature that puts it over the edge for many drivers. Cadillac has integrated a new hybrid autopilot feature called Cadillac Super Cruise. This logical step between a fully driver-controlled car and the driverless vehicles of the near future has you handing control over the Cadillac CT6 to the vehicle on the highway. Once control has been handed off, the vehicle will automatically adjust speed and steering while you’re on the highway, making for a more relaxing driving experience on long trips.

Both vehicles are great in their own right, but if you’re looking to get the most for your money, the Cadillac CT6 is the way to go.
