2018 Cadillac ATS vs. 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C300

2018 CADILLAC ATS VS. 2018 MERCEDES-BENZ C-CLASS C300

Are you in the market for a great new luxury sedan? If so, you’ve likely noticed that you’ll find more great options for a vehicle in this class than you may have guessed. With many vehicles to choose from, how do you go about selecting the one that’s right for you? One method is to compare the features and specifications of two of your best options to make an informed decision.

Compare the 2018 Cadillac ATS with the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C300.

LUXURY & CONVENIENCE

You can easily see which car wins the day in terms of raw performance, but it’s not so easy when you take a look at the inside of each vehicle. Both the Cadillac ATS and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class have amazingly comfortable interiors and offer many of the same features such as a remotely connected application, on-board navigation, streaming media playback, and Bluetooth connectivity. You won’t find anything surprising that will stand out in one vehicle more than the other.

The way a vehicle makes you feel, though, is somewhat harder to nail down. When it comes down to it, Cadillac has put much thought into the little details. While both cars are quite comfortable and luxurious, the 2018 Cadillac ATS feels better overall.

PERFORMANCE

The 2018 Cadillac ATS comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that provides up to 335 horsepower and is capable of accelerating from zero to 60 in just over five seconds. You can’t get around the fact that those numbers are impressive for such a small engine, but how do they stack up against the Mercedes-Benz C-Class C300?

The 2018 C-Class C300 comes standard with a similar 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. What’s interesting, though, is that the engine on the C-Class offers only as much as 241 horsepower and accelerates to 60 mph in just over six seconds. Due to a lead of nearly 100 horsepower on otherwise similar engines, the 2018 Cadillac ATS is the clear winner between the two vehicles in terms of power and performance.

FUEL ECONOMY

The 2018 Cadillac ATS is capable of up to 22 mpg on city streets and 31 mpg on the highway. The 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C300, however, performs only slightly better in this category, offering as much as 22 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on highways. While these numbers may suggest that the C-Class is performing better here, when you compare these numbers to a disparity of almost 100 horsepower, you’d expect to see that lack of performance would pay off in a more tangible way. Rather, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class C300 is greatly outperformed by the ATS and delivers only slightly better numbers in fuel efficiency as the tradeoff.

Conclusion

When it comes to modern luxury sedans, you can’t deny that the 2018 Cadillac ATS and the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C300 are both among the best. At the end of the day, though, the 2018 Cadillac ATS is a better vehicle overall.
